A Report of Child Abuse is Made Every Ten Seconds

Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma is leading the cause of physical child abuse deaths in the United States. We need your help preventing this tragedy from affecting more families.

The NCSBS works to protect all infants and young children from physical abuse by educating parents, caregivers and health care professionals about normal infant crying—the leading trigger for shaken baby syndrome, coping with the frustration that often occurs from caring for a new baby, and the dangers of shaking a baby. For nearly 20 years, the NCSBS has been the sole organization focused on the prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma (SBS/AHT) and has partnered with the most influential medical and public health organizations in the U.S. (e.g. American Academy of Pediatrics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) to study and prevent SBS/AHT.
